Environs
‘Chez
la Fontaine’ is situated on the outside of the village Géfosse-Fontenay. A
country-village with only 115 inhabitants.
In this village there are two small castles and opposite to ‘Chez la
Fontaine’ is the old village wash-place ‘La Fontaine’ (meaning: spring)
Just near
'Chez la Fontaine' there is a tenniscourt available for our guests.
Widely the farm is 500 meters from the coast, by foot it is about 1500 meters.
At
low tide you will see oyster- and musselhatcheries on the extensive beaches.
Everything is situated between the invasion beaches of 1944, ‘Omaha-beach’
and ‘Utah-beach’.
Near
to Omaha beach there is a golf-course for those who like this sport. (27 holes)
A few kilometer inside the country you'll find the Cotentin and Besssin
Marshlands, with a
beautiful flora and fauna.
A nice coast-place at five kilometres distance is Grandcamp-Maisy. With his’
daily fish-market and snug shops it’s worth a visit.
From this village it is possible to visit ‘Pointe du Hoc’ by boat as well as
visit the little bird-island ‘Ile St. Marcouf’.
Isigny sur Mer (also five kilometres) is famous for its caramel and
cheeses.
A bigger city in the environs is Bayeux, with the word-famous tapistry of
Reine Mathilde and his immense cathedral.
Near Balleroy you can find a beautiful forest and a little bit further from us,
about one hour and a half by car, is Mont St-Michel.
You ’ll not be bored for a minute!
